Our Purpose
The organized unit of the United Women in Faith shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ: To develop a creative, supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of Mission through participation in the Global Ministries of the Church.

Mission
HUWIF is part of an organization nationwide with about 1 million members. Our unit was established soon after the church was started in 1896 in Hernando and remains active to this day. We contribute to a variety of missions both here and abroad. Examples of our 2009 giving are Hospice, Red Bird Mission in Kentucky, CASA, Citrus United Basket (CUB), Family Resource Center, and The Path, in addition to fulfilling our pledge to the district. Closer to home we buy the Upper Room magazines, furnish care packages to our shut-ins, provide the funeral receptions, purchase recommended books for the library, subscribe to Response and honor our Over 80 members in October. One member and her husband provide the refreshments for the fellowship between Sunday school and church service.

How Is This Accomplished?
Our contributions come from pledges from the members, donations, dimes from the circles, Annual tea, All Daughters luncheon in May, bake sales in spring and fall, and soon to be our very own cookbook.

Connection To The Church
We remain connected to the church body by a family liaison chairman providing support to members undergoing surgery and those in rehab and nursing homes. Members also knit prayer shawls, presenting them to women experiencing difficulties. We are represented on the Administrative Council and many of our members also serve on other committees.

Meetings
HUMW meetings are held at the church on the second Thursday of each month at 9:45 am with the exception of July and August. All women regardless of membership in the church are welcome. We have refreshments, of course, a business meeting and a short program.
